Day one on the farm

The second goal planted at the Goal Farm was to get this website up and operational by September 1st. Today we received a visitor that took the time to plant their goal. It would be less than honest not to say it was very exciting to find a new plant tonight.
There is still a lot of chores to do here on the farm. We'll keep at it to keep the crop growing. Some goals require maintenance to stay achieved. This makes for a good discussion point.
Compare the following two goals:
  1. Get into shape
  2. Stay in shape
These goals are similar in outcome but different in maintenance. Your physical condition might be perfect for you so your goal is to stay in shape. You might want to get into better shape so your goal is more in line with the first goal. If this is the case, you might want to get into shape then stay in shape. This can lead to a third goal, "Live a healthy life style".
The case with the goal farm is to get into shape, stay maintained, and get into better shape as time goes along.
The first goal planted at the farm was to ride in the 2010 Seattle to Portland bicycle classic. My goal was to ride in the event but not to necessarily finish the full ride. I had the luck to be part of a great team and making the full ride was a thrill. The training and preparation to ride in the event resulted in completing it. There's a longer story behind the challenges to even be able to ride in the STP, but more on that later.
