Chapter 1 - Taking the first step

A journey of a 1,000 miles starts with the first step.
What does done look like?
One small step...
Many have put "this" into great words. I like all of them and have modified one of my favorites into "A journey of a 1,000 miles starts with a destination". Sure, we've all heard that it's all about the journey not the destination. But I think all journey really do start with a destination. Columbus didn't load the ships to sail around for a while to see where they end up. The destination isn't always the place that you end up. I have started so many journeys with one destination in mind only to wind up somewhere totally different. The final places have not always been the best result but that is part of living life.
The first step as it relates to "The Goal Farm" has already been made. This chapter marks the new first step for "The Goal Farm Blog".
This blog is going to become an online book that is written by the dynamic goals planted and shared with others.
There are two goals related to finding a job. One was left and shared by a visitor and the other was planted but not shared by me. This will be he subject since it is mentioned in 50 percent of the goals planted. OK, I thought it was funny.
Here's a fact about finding work in troubled economic times. People still get sick and people still eat. This translates to jobs related to food and job related to medical services. I'm not saying you must be a cook or a doctor. There are jobs that support the food industries and jobs that support health care. The issue is whether or not you are willing to do the work that is available. I suggest you look at grocery stores, clinics, and hospitals for what they have open. Heck, people in hospitals need to eat too, so that's a two for one in the job search.
I spot most of the "help wanted" signs at businesses by walking around town instead of driving. Take the time if you can to take a closer/slower look at the local businesses.
It should be pointed out that this is to find a job not necessarily a career. Your destination might be a career so these types of jobs could be part of the journey. I always wonder where I might be if I had started at McDonald's and stayed with them. If you have been a long term McDonald's employee, let me know how it worked out for you.
